Okay... more serious matters. There's a person on LJ called kittybecca. She's not on my friends list, but she is on msanborn 's friends list.
Her house burned down. Fortunately, they were able to escape with only minor smoke inhalation problems, but unfortunately, she, her children, and her rabbits have absolutely nothing. Not even shoes.
relevantpink has set up a donation page, that tells more about this, and even gives a paypal link.
No, I don't know this person, or her family, but... thankfully, by the grace of God, I have no clue what it's like to be her. I have come darned close to losing everything I had, including the roof over my head, but it has never actually happened to me. Coming close was enough to almost destroy me emotionally, I can't imagine what would happen had I ever lived through something like that.
And, kittybecca has children she has to look out for. People that depend on her to provide a roof, food, clothing, etc.
Apparently, response so far, has been wonderful, but with anyone in this situation... you know it's going to get worse before it gets better. These people lost everything.
I donated five bucks. I wished it could have been more, but money is tight. But, I also figure if only one other person reads this and decides to donate, it's another five bucks. And if they mention it on their friends list and someone else donates, even if it's five bucks... that's fifteen.
There but for the grace of God...
If you can't donate, but want to help, could you link the donation page in your own journal? Yes, I realize this person might be a stranger to you, but sometimes the most selfless thing you can do is to reach out and help a stranger in any way you can.
Goten just found one of his plastic balls with the bell in it. This probably isn't worth mentioning after all, but he sure looks mighty cute batting it around the place.
