I can hear it now.. the whispers behind my back. I can already see the comments being left... "Mallwalker, mallwalker, Darq has become a mallwalker!"
Scores of small children in the streets, chanting after me... "Mallwalker, Mallwalker!"
*Bursts into tears* I didn't want it to come to this, I really didn't.... but the wind chill fatctor brought the temperature down from like a balmy 6 to something that felt like 20 below at times. I-I had no choice. Give up walking, or go to the mall. *Sobs* I'm not ready to give up walking... I can't give up walking. So, don't you see, I had to do this! HAD TO, I TELL YOU! HAD TO!
So, me and the mostly older people were mall walking today. I can't even have the satisfaction of saying, "And you know what? I blew them out of the water with my speed!" because for Christ's sake, it's just rude to brag about outwalking Grandma Moses.
I was lucky though. There is a mall near us that is dying. Over half the stores aren't rented, sad for them. It's like a ghost town. In fact, there were only a few customers in the place, mostly it was us... Mallwalkers. I have a feeling unless changes happen very soon, this mall won't be around for long, but I'm hoping it will last the winter. Cause colder days are coming.
I did six miles in that mall. And, weirdly enough, I did it faster than when I go to the track. Maybe it was because the mall was warm. I also felt myself starting to sweat, something I haven't done in a bit.
Todd had the day off, so he went with me and drank coffee and read a magazine while I walked. Waved when I walked by. Kept an eye on my jacket and my bottle of Ultima Replenisher. Which, tastes pretty bland all by itself, so I ended up mixing the powder with orange flavored "Fruit 2/0" which made it taste nice and orangy. Mmmm.... I have lemon Propel to mix the lemon with too. Will try that tomorrow.
Oh yes, and thanks to walking, I have fallen in love with fleece. I have one fleece suit I use for walking. I want about fifty more. They are so darned cozy, I feel like I've got a giant teddybear wrapped around my body. Alas though, we don't have the money to be able to afford fifty fleece suits. I saw one today at one place for 40 bucks that's the most beautiful shade of powderblue. *sighs longingly* Yes, I am crazy about fleece. Fleece and Thorlo socks, which I also managed to find.
When we came home, we watched POTC (again!) I really like that movie. Except, for some reason I haven't quite figured out, Depp reminds me of Prince. Okay, he reminds me of Prince back in the 80's. But, if anyone has a clue why I'm confusing the two of them, let me know, cause I can't figure it out!
But, I put in eight miles today. Six walking, two doing "other" things. I'm doing really good for this week. And, as long as I'm willing to continue to *gulp* use the mall for walking, I should be able to put in some distance this week. I'm already an entire day ahead of my goal of six miles per day. However, they are talking about snow tomorrow or Friday, which could keep me from getting to the mall
And then, to make things interesting... we went out to pick up a few things. When we came back, we found out that Goten had opened up one of the kitchen cabinets and proceeded to empty it out of all the packets of sugar free jello I had. Which were quite numerous, because it was on sale recently and I'd stocked up. He knocked every one of them to the floor. Two ended up exploding, leaving this delightful mixture of red and yellow powder on the floor. Along with some tanish colored scoopable kitty litter, because we all know about Goten liking his litter out of the box. Todd looked at the mess and says, "I think Goten staked a vampire while we were out..."
Now, I must go off and cry in shame for my deep embarassment... for I have become a... a... a...
