If you don't see you name here, and you know you signed up, please leave a comment in this entry!
I have 40 names of people who want me to do this. If I count in mentioned pets, that's 46 names.
I have already donated 35 needed things to the shelter... if you want to know what's been donated so far, you can go here to find out.
As of this moment, I also have other stuff to donate that I've been picking up this week. The list so far is:
24 cans of kitten food
2 bags of kitten chow
2 bottles of laundry detergent
2 (more) gallons of bleach
1 package of viva reusable towels.
That gives us 66 items (so far) that are being donated. I plan on picking up more stuff, hopefully tomorrow, and making another trip to the shelter tomorrow too. I'm hoping to pick up at least a couple bags of cat litter at least, if not more.
For those of you who might have missed my original post about this... this is how it works in a nutshell. Instead of getting me anything for Christmas (this even includes a card...) and instead of me getting you anything... you agree to have me donate something to the local no-kill cat shelter instead. All you have to do is leave a comment, either in this entry or in the original entry Either one is fine.
No, you don't have to have been planning on getting me a gift to "sign up" for this, or even a card. All you have to do is think that it's a good idea for me to donate to my local cat shelter. If you want to "return" the favor, all you need to do is to donate to a local shelter as well, be it food, or anything else they might need. If helping animals is not your thing, you can donate a can of food to a local food bank.
The shelter has agreed to write a letter of thanks, which they will send to me. I will, in turn, scan or copy the letter once I get it, and put it up in my journal for everyone to read.
So far, even if I use those who've mentioned pets as donators as well, I still have an excess of 20 "things" for the shelter that don't have "names" attached to them. And I'm hoping to be able to buy more stuff, at least this week.
As long as the money (on my end) holds out, my hopes is for every person that leaves a comment, I can donate one thing, be it detergent, paper towels, a can or bag of catfood. So far, I'm 20 items ahead. Let's see if I can actually pick up a few more things tomorrow and make the list even.
No, this is not a huge attempt to garner comments for my journal. I swear it's not!
